It rained for exactly three minutes tonight. Yes
I know, I was counting the seconds. Three minutes-
Of madness I did not share, three more minutes
When I was not with you. One hundred
And eighty seconds added
To what might have been.
You know, I have never walked
In the rain, since the day we parted,
Nothing wets my soul anymore. You
Left a raging fire that burns everything.
You took me, rains, books and tea.
Somehow, this whole gig is eating me up. This-
Staying alive thing that people speak of, this
Living. You know, the whole story of taking
Pleasure out of your life, seeing beauty
In formless clouds, writing poetry about
Scattered bottles of beer drunk last night. This is getting
On my nerves. No, I continue to stare
At that you shaped depression on the bed, and
Wait for you
To come back. Without you,
I am merely surviving.
